The Improvements of 11th gen
So there are some improvements over the last gen but it’s not a day and night difference. This new gen is being called Tiger Lake and along with, it brings support for the following:
- Support for Wifi 6
- Support for thunderbolt 4
- Support for 8K HDR output or 4K HDR output on multiple displays
- A new AI engine claimed to enhance the video conferencing experience \
- A completely new integrated graphics called Iris Xe claiming to perform better than previous integrated graphics (only available in i5 and i7 chips)
These are some of the biggest and major new improvements in the 11th generation of processors for laptops. These new gen processors are built on the same 10 nanometer process which Intel has refined and now they are calling it the 10nm SuperFin design. This new design is supposed to bring in 20% better performance improvements in office productivity tasks while also improving the battery life by 20% which translates to roughly somewhere around 1 Hour in real world usage.
Intel’s new integrated graphics called the Iris xe is also supposed to bring in improvements but will only be available for the i5 and i7 series of processors and i3 will be bundled with the previous gen integrated graphics.
