CCA CST IEM Review – Budget Endgame

CCA is the sister brand of the KZ company which is known to make a hell lot of in-ear monitors for cheaper prices. Both share similar packaging and designing but when it comes to sound tuning the CCA does a job better than the KZ. Here let’s see whether CCA held up to it’s potential.

It comes in a small white box with the image of the product in the front side and specifications in the back. The box is compact and elegant enough and contains the earphone itself with some additional ear tips and a warranty card with a user manual.

The earphone is partly made of wood and partly plastic. The center part of the earphone is wood which is actually real wood and looks beautiful. The nozzle part is made of plastic. There is an open back grill present in the back of the earphone which helps in the expansive soundstage and natural bass effect. The wires are non-detachable and of medium quality. Has 3.5mm ended output and L Shaped jack for smartphone and universal adaptability.

The fit is usual as a normal earphone and doesn’t adopt the traditional chi fi style. The fit is snug with correct ear tips. The nozzles are angled to the ear canal so the fit is nothing to complain about.

Believe me it really shines….Being a 14usd earphone the sound coming out of it is just bliss..

BASS: The bass has good control and it’s faster when compared to its budget counterpart. The drivers are not specially coated but it’s decay and attack are really good. The bass doesn’t bleed into mids and they sound very tight and clear. No bloat or bleed is observed during my listening.

Tracks Used:

  1. Jungle Instrumental-Tash Sultana

At 1:05 the sub bass strikes and it’s felt evident without any bleed or bloat. It’s fast, deep and awesome.

  1. Darkness Within-Michael Logen

The bass is impactful and clear. The vocals are separated out well and presented well

MIDS: The mids are not completely recessed too and have forward vocals. The vocals are brought out well with good details

Tracks Used:

  1. Another You- Armin Van Buuren

The male vocals are presented well with some forwardness and that gives the good sense of clear instruments. The vocals are front and the instruments are presented in the back.

  1. Yesterday was hard on all of us – Fink

The vocals are sweet and nice. The guitar strikes beautifully along with the beautiful vocals.

HIGHS: The highs are not extended as you will fall in the high end gears but it’s nothing to be complained about for the price they quote. No sibilance is what I expect in most of the chi-fi and it clearly ticks the box!

Tracks Used:

  1. Kamashi Washington – Claire de lune

The overall balance of the treble is well controlled and detailed enough for the price. No sibilance is felt or rather any harshness. The trumpets sound controlled and good enough

  1. Portishead – Humming

The refinement of the treble is good. Many high end earphones tend to lose in this area but this one does a good job!

SOUNDSTAGE: The stage is wider with adequate height and depth. The instruments are spread out well and are not congested too closely.

Track Used: Global Gear (Instrumental) – Punya Srinivas

This sound reminded me of the sound from galaxy buds plus which has the Harman curve target.

  1. Warm sound signature with no loss in detail
  2. Looks beautiful
  3. Price
  4. Good soundstage and tonality for the price!

  1. Non-detachable cable
  2. Lack of detail retrieval

If you need a good fun sounding earphone which doesn’t compromise on mids and not a fan of winding the wires behind the ear fins this is the earphone you need. I would take this one over the Blon-BL03 any day considering the price and the sound coming out of it. For the price, I really loved it and if they had launched a detachable version it would have been a hot cake!

My first experience of enjoying the hifi audio came when I started to use budget chi-fi gears and now it came all along the way of reviewing the gears with high end stuffs.
