We haven’t heard from HTC in a while now. The last time we heard from them was in May of 2017 when they announced the U11, the world’s first squeezable phone. In the silence, HTC had been working on something big, the U11+.
HTC U11 Plus Smartphone Full Review and Specifications !
Earlier this month, HTC revealed the stunning looking HTC U11+, an upgrade to the U11. Here are our thoughts on it.
Of course, we have to talk about that beautiful design. Like the HTC U11, the U11+ has an all-glass body that is slightly curved – inspired by the surface tension on water droplets.
This gives it an attractive glossy appearance, but does means it picks up fingerprints easily.
Beautifully molded liquid glass surface and tri-axis curves are not only attractive, they are also designed to give us a more comfortable hold and a secure grip.
The U11+ is longer and slimmer
than the U11, measuring 158.5 x 74.9 x 8.5 mm and weighing 188g.
It is available in 3 different colours, Ceramic Black, Translucent Black (discussed here) and Amazing Silver.
Like every new smartphone coming out lately, the U11+ has a near bezel-less 18:9 ratio screen like the iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy and Note Phones, and many others.
It has a 6-inch Super LCD6 capacitive touchscreen (~78.0% screen-to-body ratio) with 1440 x 2880 resolution (~538 ppi density). It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The display has been meticulously engineered to support the DCI-P3 color space delivering our most vivid display, a wider color gamut, and incredible color accuracy. HTC U11+ also supports HDR10 video for vibrant imagery so be ready to stay captivated.
Internals (Hardware + Software)
The U11+ does sport the latest and greatest specs.
It has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with Adreno 540 GPU.
4/6 GB RAM with 64/128 GB internal storage respectively. It also has support for MicroSD card expansion upto 2 TB.
3930 mAh battery with support for Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0.
Also comes with Android 8.0 Oreo. Inside every HTC U11+, you will find an AI company on who is dedicated to you. HTC Sense Companion will get to understand you and your daily patterns over time in order to offer you more convenience with every day.
The U11+, unlike many flagships, comes with a single rear camera which has a 12MP UltraPixel 3 sensor with f/1.7 aperture and both OIS and EIS. It is capable of 4K video recording and can record 1080p videos at 120 fps.
The front has an 8 MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
The HTC U11+’s stand-out feature is its Edge Sense technology, which allows you to squeeze the phone to launch apps without having to touch the screen.
For example, you can squeeze to launch the camera, and then squeeze again to snap a shot, or you can squeeze to launch HTC’s Voice to Text service, which allows you to dictate text messages when your hands are full.
You can also squeeze from the lock screen to launch Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa without unlocking your phone.
Short squeezes and long squeezes can be programmed to perform different tasks, and the edge sensors can also be configured to match the sensitivity of the user’s grip.
As well as being a fun new way to interact with your phone, Edge Sense is particularly useful if it’s raining, if you have wet hands or if you’re wearing gloves.
HTC has always been known for its audio quality since its introduction of HTC BoomSound.
The U11+ comes with HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition speakers for solid, well-rounded sound out of the phone.
It also ships with HTC’s USonic headphones with active noise cancellation, which continuously monitor environmental sound levels and adjusts to any new noises or disturbances.
The earphones supposedly use a sonar-like pulse and tiny microphones to analyze the inside of your ears, as well as the noise levels around you, and adjust the sound levels to suit your hearing.
The HTC U11+ comes with Bluetooth 5.0, which means it can connect to two devices at the same time. It has IP68 water proof and dust resistance.
360 Degree voice recording capabilities, which means audio will come from the direction of source and not flat like others.
It has both, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Price and Availability
The HTC India has given us just one price – 799 Euros (or approx. Rs 60,174), which might be for the higher end variant, which indicate only one variant in India.
There’s no update on when the phone will be made available in India.
