On September 5, 2016, Reliance Jio came up with the introduction of Jio Sims offering free unlimited calls and the internet in the form of Welcome Jio offer.
Further, after the three-month offer came to an end, Reliance launched a new Year welcome offer letting the users enjoy unlimited free services for another 3 months.
The Jio offer which was previously not taken seriously by other telecom operators was taken into considerable caution when Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Jio initiated the New year welcome offer.
With the Jio offer ending on 31st March 2017, other popular telecom operators have launched plans at competitive prices with Jio.
Bharti Airtel brings a fierce competition
However, Bharti Airtel seems to be the most aggressive telecom operator in the market. In order to save its stake in the market, it has launched rival plans ensuring retention of the customers.
Jio plans Vs. Airtel Plans
As per the Jio plan, one has to pay ₹99 for join the prime membership of Jio and further can opt for different schemes.
The most popular plan offered by Jio is a recharge of ₹303 every month wherein the customer will get 1 GB data every day with unlimited On-net and off-net calling.
Thus, to compete with the plan, Airtel said there would not be any membership for the users, and they could further enjoy better internet and services at competitive rates. To this, they planned to offer 1 GB internet every day with unlimited calls at just ₹349 per month.
Likewise, other telecom operators like Vodafone, Idea and BSNL have again brought down a radical change in the prices and have been offering similar plans at similar rates although Airtel seems to be competing better.
Previously data was split into day and night shifts, but in order to stay competitive, the splitting data plan is not implemented.
Further, Jio also offers different other plans letting customers have a choice to what suits better.
