What is the first thing that pings in your mind when you bump across the term ‘sound’ in general? Surrounding noise, vehicles, machines, devices and equipment in daily life and most of all, music!
And there are a few geek minds scattered around everywhere who perceive sound as – A mechanical wave that is an oscillation of pressure transmitted through a solid, liquid or gas composed of frequencies…(!)
To those techno geeks and audiophiles, we have got an interesting piece of sound here.
The classic ivory colour just adds an extra retro charm to the already good looking earphones. Let’s do a virtual teardown of it shall we?
1 Concept & Design:
The brushed steel alloy plus an ivory clad fine leather finish and the ultra cozy cushions are good enough to make you infatuate with the design.
And you needn’t worry about the flexibility of the earpieces each time you carry the headphones, thanks to the precision crafted ball joints fitted in the sliders.
The only thing that might blink your eye would be those strands of cable emerging from the earpieces in the inner annular region.
This is where the title ‘Momentum’ gets aptly justified. The sole motive behind introducing the Momentum series was to redefine the boundaries of sound and design.
Although technically, 18Ω impedance is a figure that one would expect a little more from a premium audiophile device, the large diaphragms and a wide frequency spectrum from 16Hz to 22kHz helps in delivering a brilliant and rich sound experience enabling you to immerse into the minute audio details.
Just like a spectacular depth of field generated by any high end SLR camera, the Sennheiser Momentum provides an immense depth of listening laid by a foundation of powerful bass.
Just a little heads-up here, this is one of the very few high end devices that has an inline microphone.
So this means you can have an equally thrilling user experience in online applications too such as gaming; not to mention the other microphone utilities (calling, controlling music etc.)
This is what makes the Momentum OEMs stand out among the other high end series of headphones (for e.g. its own counterpart, the Sennheiser HD598 Headphones)
