C.E.S. 2017 is just over and yet again we got to see a wonderful array of products, futuristic and realistic at the same time.
For those of you who do not know C.E.S. or the Consumer Electronics Show takes place at the beginning of every year in Las Vegas, where companies show off their latest and greatest products that might be launched by them that year.
This year was no different. We saw futuristic pieces of tech in every aspect of machinery, i.e. from Washing Machines to Refrigerators, from Smart phones to Televisions, cameras, Audio Devices, Laptops, etc.
In this article, we will be covering the most talked about and the most awaited Smartphones that were launched in January 2017 including the ones launched at the C.E.S. 2017.
1 Nokia 6
For the first time in a while making an appearance is the Legend of yesterday please put your hands together for “NOKIA”.
Yes, finally the greatest company of phones in the past is out with their Android Device, The Nokia 6.
The Nokia 6 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
It will sport a 5.5inch Full HD Display with a resolution of 1080p, with 2.5 D glass.
Storage & Processor
It will have a great 4 GB of Ram and 64 GB of internal storage capacity, and all this will be backed by Snapdragon 430 SoC.
It will house a 16 MP Rear Facing Camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detect Auto Focus, and a dual-tone flash. There will be an 8 MP front facing camera also with an aperture of f/2.0.
It will house a 3000 mAh battery.
When it comes to build quality, Nokia was known for its tough phones. This one is no different.
The Nokia 6 is a full metal unibody design using 6000 series Aluminum. It has a fingerprint scanner embedded in its home button for added security.
It has Dolby Atmos Tech with Dual Amplifiers which will produce better and louder sound.
Available When ?
As of now, the Nokia 6 will be available only in China via JD.com for a price of 1699 CYN which equals roughly 16,750 Rs.
Though the company has said that it has no plans of releasing the Nokia 6 in other markets, but it has said that it will release more Smartphones in the first half of 2017.
2 Asus ZenFone AR
This year at the C.E.S., Asus stole the limelight with its new Google Project Tango and DayDream VR ready phone, the Asus ZenFone AR. It is designed around machine vision with a camera and sensor setup that provides motion tracking, depth perception, and area learning.
The ZenFone AR has a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED screen with Q-HD Resolution, which means it will be a great screen to watch VR content in.It has Gorilla Glass 4 for protection of the screen from scratches, dirt, etc.
It boasts a monstrous 8 GB of Ram and an internal memory of 256 GB and also a hybrid sim card tray which will take a Micro SD card upto 256 GB.
It also has a 23 MP resolution rear camera with 3 sensors. It has an 8 MP front facing camera.
All this is managed by the new and insanely fast Snapdragon 821 SoC and the Adreno 530 GPU.
With such a great phone comes a great battery of 3300 mAh, a full metal build. The back is covered in really soft leather covering, which feels great in the hand.
It will be running Android 7.0.
It has a Vapor-Cooling system which will save the device from overheating when using its AR capabilities.
Available When ?
There is no official statement from Asus as to when will the phone be released, but they have told that it will be available in Q-2 of the year.
Also there are no details on its pricing yet, but it is sure that it won’t come cheap.
3 The Xiaomi Mi Mix
The Mi Mix was announced by Xiaomi in November of 2016. They announced a gorgeous black colored phone, but at the C.E.S. 2017, Xiaomi introduced a new color variant, White, which looks fabulous.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix was a limited edition concept smartphone that Xiaomi had made in collaboration with French designer Philippe Stark.
It was launched in two variants-(Ram/Storage- Price)
4 GB/128GB- 3,499 CYN or Rs 34,500
6GB/256GB- 3,999 CYN or Rs 39,500
The key feature and the selling point for the Xiaomi Mi Mix was its nearly Bezel-Less display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3% and a curved edge display.
Sensors & Sound
It has a ceramic body with all its sensors and camera in the bottom bezel rather than on the top as most of the phones.
It has an ultrasonic proximity sensor rather than the traditional infrared one. Instead of an earpiece speaker, it has a peizoelectric acoustic ceramic earpiece speaker.
It also has a fingerprint sensor just below the rear camera for additional security.
Other features include a 6.4-inch display which bears a 17:9 aspect, with a 1080×2040 resolution, a pixel density of 362ppi, and a 94 percent NTSC colour gamut.
Xiaomi Mi MIX is powered by a 2.35GHz quad-core Snapdragon 821 SoC and the Adreno 530 GPU.
The Mi MIX smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, an f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. It bears a 5-megapixel front camera.
Battery & Android Version
All this is powered by a 4400mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. It comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which will be upgraded soon to Android 7.0 Nougat.
